Jan took as the theme for her year as Regional President “The Future Depends On What We Do Today”. At her first meeting in December 2018 she had invited speakers from White Ribbon UK campaign and Federation President Elect, Isobel Smith. We were asked to wear orange to mark the 16 days of Action to End Violence Against Women. March saw Jan at the Regional Public Speaking competition and April was the Regional Celebration lunch and clubs Change of Insignia with guest speaker Federation President Sue Williams.
In May 50+ Soroptimists and partners from Midland Arden Region and Scotland enjoyed a few days in Geneva visiting the United Nations and meeting one of the three Soroptimists from Geneva, who on a voluntary basis, attend the discussions held there. We also met with Soroptimist Sisters from the clubs in Geneva who kindly organised a walking tour around the town, finishing with a traditional fondue meal.
In July Jan, President Elect Isobel and three members of SI Solihull plus one partner headed to Kuala Lumpur for the International Soroptimist Conference. September was Jan’s last Regional meeting which focused on Mental Health, the theme of Federational President Sue Williams.
After a busy and stimulating year, October 2019 saw Jan hand the Regional chain of office to Rose Hutchinson from Stratford upon Avon at the Federation Conference in Bournemouth.
