“Bees for Development” assists beekeepers living in poor and remote areas of the world – lifting them out of poverty through beekeeping. They work with community groups and associations, raising the profile of apiculture in developing countries to ensure a sustainable future for bees, people and the environment. Angela Sadler chose this as one of her charities when she was President of SI Solihull. Thanks to the generosity of our members she was able to present a cheque for £800 to Dr. Nicola Bradbear who established the organisation in 1993.
Five of us attended the official opening of the new “Bees for Development” headquarters in Monmouth on 14thJuly 2012. Bill Turnbull is a Patron of the Trust and was there to cut the red ribbon.
Their new headquarters is in a shop near the Shire Hall so if you are passing, call in. As well as selling bee keeping equipment and honey from several African countries, there are all sorts of bee related goodies!
